Recelaron del cielo
The Hospital Santa Rosa, formerly a hospital of the Caja Nacional de Prevision, had been closed for over a decade due to embezzlement by the authorities who administered it. It was acquired by the Universidad Nacional, which for many years kept it inactive, using some of the spaces as administrative offices. The lower floors were striking in their impeccability, but the upper hospitalization floors were abandoned. The project proposed a journey through the Hospital, traversing these spaces, culminating on the fourth floor, which at the time of the exhibition was used as a storage area.
Upon reaching the fourth floor, the visitor found long corridors with multiple rooms, all of them locked except for three, whose doors had been replaced with glass, so that the public could approach and witness their interiors. No element was rearranged; they were only illuminated to make visible what these rooms contained.
Along this journey, fragments of the novel “La Vorágine” were placed on the walls, printed in plotter of very small size. Thus, as the viewer enters deeper into this Hospital, crossing its impeccable facade, they descend into a progressive chaos, just as happens to the characters of this novel, whom we first see set out with hope, then see lost, then ill and delirious, and whose final fate we never learn.
